Our nine days Untamed Uganda takes you to Uganda’s main tourist destinations which include Bwindi Forest a designated world Heritage that hosts 51% of the total population of the reaming mountain Gorillas on the planet, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited park that’s gifted with sprawling savanna plains, sparkling crater lakes, Thickets, Rainforests, riverine and swamps hosting about 98 mammal species.

We conclude this voyage with the primate capital of the world Kibale Forest that’s famous for the fourteen primates species found in this evergreen tropical forest.

Detailed Itinerary

Day One – Arrival at Entebbe international Airport.

Upon Arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will go through the immigration process that always takes between one to two hours depending on your arrival time. Going through the arrival’s door, you will meet a representative/guide from Hooves Africa – Photo Safaris, have a short meet and greet and then transfer to your hotel/guest in Entebbe for the overnight thats on Bed and Breakfast arrangement.

Day Two – Scenic Road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park (optional scheduled domestic flight Kisoro)

After an early breakfast (06:00am), you will have a short briefing about your safari with your guide where you will briefly go through the itinerary to reconfirm the program before setting off at 07:00am. This is a full day transfer from Entebbe to Bwindi (9 hours+) with several interesting stops along the way through the lash greens vegetation and endless plains of central and western Uganda.

Our first photographic and health break will be at Equator followed by Igongo cultural center for hot lunch or a similar place. (in case you would like to taste the famous Uganda Rolex we recommend you try one of The Heat in Mbarara town).

After your hot lunch, you will continue to drive south words through farmlands of Ankole, watch out for long horned cattle and farmers carrying or cycling the banana (matoke) to the markets. Dinner and overnight at the edge of the forest.

Day Three – ultimate gorilla encounter in the tropical rain forest.

After an early breakfast, your guide will drive you to the briefing center of Uganda Wildlife Authority to join other clients for a general detailed briefing about the rules and regulations of gorilla tracking. The briefing starts at 7:00am and at 8:00am you embark on the search of the mountain gorillas in the dense jungles of Bwindi for the gorilla family you have been allocated to.

Your group will constitute of eight people and two/three armed rangers who are there to ensure that you are safe throughout the tracking process since the forest has other mammals including African elephants. One of the armed rangers leads the group as he is communicating with trackers who went to the forest earlier to track the movement of gorillas from the point where they slept last night to where they might be and will guide the guides on which routes to take.

After you have located gorillas, you will have one full hour observing them in their natural habitat as they feed and go on with their daily life. The trekking can take two hours to Eight hours but one hours with these great apes is a life changing experience one. We recommend you carry a camera to capture this moment and preferably an extra SD card and battery so that you do not miss capturing this lifetime experience.

In addition, packed lunch, drinking water, hiking boots, glovers and rain gear is a must have since forest is always wet and there is a possibility of rain anytime. After the one magical hour with the gorillas, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight in Bwindi.

Day Four – Transfer from Bwindi national Park to Ishasha Sector

After breakfast, drive from Bwindi to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park. Queen Elizabeth Park is undoubtedly Uganda’s most visited national park and Ishasha sector is famous for the tree-climbing lions. This day is dedicated to discovering the vast plains of Ishasha. Look out for elephant herds, Topi hers, buffaloes, Kobs among others. Dinner and overnight in Ishasha sector.

Day Five – Full day Queen Elizabeth National park- Ishasha Sector

Since this is the most famous part of the park, we will dedicate this day to discovering the hiden gems of the sector. The sector is blessed with several tracks that a rich with abundant wildlife. While on a game drive, on a lucky day, you may be able to find several families of African Elephants, herds of Topes, pride of lions resting in tree or on the ground, spotting a leopard is always a plus. Depending on your previous arrangement, a sundowner at the ridge or by the rive Ntungwe would be a good idea to compliment the day.

Day Six – Drive to the North of Elizabeth National park- Kasenyi Sector

After breakfast, you will have a final game drive as you depart to northern part of the park. Check in at your lodge, have a hot lunch and prepare for the afternoon community boat to on Kazinga channel.

In the afternoon, you will take on a boat cruise on Kazinga channel to discover more about this park. Kazinga channel is famous for the population of hippos and is said to have the highest population of hippos on the African continent. Other wildlife can be sighted here including the African elephant, the Cape buffalo, waterbucks, lots of birds, and reptiles like the Nile crocodile among others. Dinner and overnight at the edge of the park

Day Seven– Drive from Queen Elizabeth national park to Kibale forest national park.

After breakfast, you will conduct the last game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park before you drive to Kibale forest national park. After lunch, you will drive towards Fort portal town where you have crater lakes drive if time allows. The craters are part of the beautiful sceneries of the region and walk to the top of the world is an experience that will blow you mind away. Dinner and overnight at the edge Kibale forest.

Day Eight– Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland walk.

After an early breakfast, you will drive to kanyanchu to join others for briefing before you head to forest with Uganda wildlife authority rangers. After the briefing, you will get back into the vehicle and drive to the starting point of the trek. Your ranger guides will be communicating with trackers and following trails/tracks where chimps slept the previous night.

Kibale being the primate capital of the world, you might also be able to find other primates such as l’hoests monkey, Red Colobus monkey, Black and white colobus monkeys and other mammal maybe be found in this evergreen tropical rainforest.

Once chimps have been sighted, you have hour observing and watching them go on with their dailly routine in their natural habitat which is thrilling and memorable at the same time. These primates have been said to use tools to get food and your ranger guides will explain more. Later return to the lodge for a hot lunch.

In the afternoon, we take a walk in the famous Bigodi wetlands, a community project managed by the community and changing lives of the local people. On this walk, you will be able see some primates such as olive baboons, red-tailed/White nosed monkeys, bird species and cultural encounter with the local communities will brighten you day. Later drive back to lodge for dinner and overnight at the forest edge.

Day Nine– Drive from Kibale forest national park to Entebbe international airport.

After breakfast, we depart from Fort Portal to Entebbe international airport for your out bound flight. This journey is about 5/6 hours with several stops for leg stretch and coffee break. End of your tour!
